Data Submission for Epic Users
Published in December 2017
We’ve received questions from AJRR participants who use Epic as their electronic health record (EHR) system on how they will be able to submit with AJRR’s 2017 data specifications. Epic users have two options.
Registry users who use Epic can either purchase the Epic Bones software module or have their IT department map data from their EHR to Registry data fields. In past AJRR User Group Network (Unet) conference calls, Registry participants expressed confusion around whether the Epic Bones module was current with the AJRR 2017 Data Specifications. Epic representatives have stated that any institution with Bones will be able to submit their patients’ data with the current AJRR specs, including the Level III patient-reported outcome (PRO) requirements. If your institution would prefer to move forward without the Bones module, your IT team will need to develop a way to submit data from your Epic system into the AJRR. Epic is set up differently at each institution, so the Registry is unable to provide an all-purpose template to AJRR participants that don’t have a Bones subscription. AJRR does not have any affiliation, input, or influence on the Bones pricing structure.
