The National Association of Orthopaedic Nurses (NAON) 38th Annual Congress took place May 19-22, 2018 at the Albuquerque Convention Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The Congress objectives were to implement practice changes based on evidence-based practice, professional development, and research in the care of the orthopaedic patient; impact patient outcomes through adoption of best practices and innovation; and contribute to a professional environment that encourages collegiality and networking among participants associated with advancement in orthopaedic nursing education, practice, and research.
AJRR exhibited at the NAON 38th Annual Congress at Booth 508. We provided hard copies of our 2017 Annual Report, jump drives with information on how and why to participate in the Registry, and NAON-branded pens.
Attendees were able to stop by the stage at the Joint Connection on Sunday, May 20 from 2:40 p.m. - 2:55 p.m. MDT for our presentation, "What's the Buzz About Registries?" The presentation's goal was to provide an understanding of the history and value of clinical data registries and how they can benefit your department. The AAHKS Annual Meeting addresses a broad array of scientific topics such as implant design, outcomes, surgical techniques, and complications of primary and revision total joint arthroplasty (TJA). Their Annual Meeting also addresses the latest socioeconomic issues in health care. Courses are offered for residents, non-physician team members, and hospital administrators who plan on attending. We have an exhibit where you can stop by to learn more. We also conduct a session and release our findings from our Annual Report at this meeting.

Each year, we attend the AAOS Annual Meeting. At this meeting, we have a booth where staff provides demonstrations of the AJRR dashboards as well as meet with individuals who are interested in participation and would like to learn more about the Registry. We also hold a session and/or present scientific findings during the meeting. Our annual in-person User Group Network (Unet) meeting is held during this time too.

AJRR staff created the poster "Is There a Correlation Between Hospital Size and Revision Indication and Where TJA Revision Surgery is Performed?" It was on display during the meeting in Academy Hall B.
ASCA's 2018 Annual Meeting was held April 11-14 in Boston. Attendees stopped by the AJRR booth to see how Registry participation, and the data that will be compiled, will be used to validate current efforts to reduce health care costs by moving total joint replacements to Medicare’s ASC-payable list and expanding the number of private payers that will reimburse surgery centers for these procedures.

ISAR is a global consortium of joint replacement registries throughout the world. ISAR also provides support to registries like the AJRR. Their Annual Meeting serves as a venue in which surgeons and academics can present their research, ideas, and progress to each other.
